PORTFOLIO 2010/Part 2
Iraq, especially the Iraqi Kurdistan region, is one of the most heavily affected places on earth. The people most at risk are in rural, agricultural and pastoral communities, especially children. For them, the lingering presence of landmines causes a significant deterioration of human dignity and security.

MIR shall remove the hazards and socio-economic blocks caused by landmines and other explosive remnants of war in Iraq, prioritising work on the basis of the vulnerability of affected communities.

MIR shall conduct Land Release with a proven toolbox of manual and mechanical methods. This ensures that resources are used in the most cost- and time- effective manner. Having successfully employed a Land Release approach without international advisors since 2001, MIR is unique in offering a locally-sourced and efficient solution to a long term problem.

MIR works to international standards and is subject to internal and external quality controls.
